virtualgranny.com was created by Marrisse and Bob Whittaker, both TV Producers. Bob is a proud granddad to four delightful grandchildren aged from 4 weeks to 8 years old. Marrisse through marriage, became a “virtual granny” not having had any children of her own but thrilled to launch in to babysitting, fairy cake making and the like with gusto – and then hand the little lovely’s back at the end of the visit and crack open a bottle of wine and sit happily in silence.

It’s clear to any of us who have been there, that grandparents come in a huge range of shapes, ages and life experiences and yet in the media, grandparents are still constantly portrayed as gray bunned knitting obsessive’s, or meek old slipper wearers, content to swing back and forth in rocking chairs, sucking on their false gnashers all day.

Well we’re here to ditch the cliché’s and make sure that grandparents get to stand up and be counted! virtualgranny.com aims to become the voice of grandparents – a one stop shop to make grandparents lives easier and ensure that people sit up and take notice of grandparent’s views on all sorts of important issues.
